Hi, I’m Mike! With some of my favorite childhood memories being climbing every tree and dirt mound I could find, it was no surprise when I walked into a climbing gym for the first time in 2014 that I felt very at home.
I spent a few years bouldering regularly, participating in every league and competition that I could. This love for competitions grew into volunteering for USAC Youth regional and divisional tournaments hosted locally, and in 2024, 2 certifications as a USA Climbing Official.
After tagging along on a Red River Gorge trip with friends in 2017, suddenly the scope of my ambition for climbing was widened. I wanted to climb sport, and I wanted to do it outside. As of this writing, I’ve climbed in 11 states as well as Canada and Mexico, and have plans to keep the list growing.
As a lifelong conservationist, I felt that it was important to join organizations such as Access Fund and the RRGCC not only to help secure the future of being able to enjoy these amazing places, but to help promote education regarding the care for and protection of them. Joining the ICC was a good fit, because now I’m teamed up with a talented group of people who also want to bring climbing home to Indiana.
